Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented psychological treatment designed to address unhelpful thought patterns, emotional responses, and behaviours. It is especially effective for individuals experiencing post-accident anxiety, stress, or trauma-related conditions such as travel anxiety, low mood, and sleep disturbances. CBT helps clients identify and challenge negative thought processes and replace them with healthier coping strategies.

At LPT Healthcare, we offer CBT through two accessible formats: face-to-face sessions with our qualified psychotherapists and remote sessions via telephone counselling. Clients who may find it difficult to travel or have limited availability can benefit from our flexible telephone-based CBT, where a therapist will schedule weekly calls to support their recovery journey.

Upon completion of the treatment programme, a detailed final report will be compiled by the therapist. This includes a comprehensive summary of progress, therapeutic outcomes, and a prognosis, which is then submitted to the referring insurer or solicitor to support the client’s claim and ongoing care needs.

What to Expect from CBT

CBT is a collaborative and structured form of therapy where the client and therapist work together to identify specific problems and develop practical solutions. The process begins with an initial assessment to understand your symptoms, personal history, and how the accident or situation has impacted your mental health.

During each session, your therapist will help you explore the connections between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. You’ll learn how to challenge negative thought patterns, set realistic goals, and develop healthier responses to stress or trauma. Sessions may include practical exercises, self-reflection tasks, and coping techniques that can be applied in your daily life.

CBT is typically short-term and results-focused, with most treatment plans lasting between 6–12 sessions, depending on individual needs. Throughout the process, your progress will be monitored, and adjustments will be made to ensure the therapy is aligned with your goals. Whether delivered in person or over the phone, CBT at LPT Healthcare is designed to empower you to regain control and build emotional resilience.
